With five sides contesting finals, three of which finished on top of their respective competition ladders, Modbury hosted finals for 12 teams; a total of 176 players – plus supporters from 10 clubs.
At home were Division 4,5 & 7 sides. The division 4 Side continued its unbeaten form defeating Rosewater by 23 shots to move into the Grand Final at Semaphore on Saturday26th March.
Also winners were Div. 7 Red defeating Beaumont White by 13 shots and will go to Salisbury on 26th march to contest their Grand Final. An excellent effort for a side that has to contend with changes on a weekly basis throughout the year.
Unfortunately Div. 5 Red fell just 5 shots short in their match against Para Hills, and will now have to play Prospect/ Broadview at Modbury next Saturday, 19th March, for a place in their Grand Final. They do have the side to get the job done.
Playing away in qualifying finals were our Premier and Division 1 sides. At Grange, on a very fast green our side was no match for the pressure applied by Somerton and are now out of contention. However, just making finals in the metropolitan premier competition is an excellent result for our side.
Division 1 travelled to Salisbury and were considered by many to be underdogs against a very strong Woodville side, but the players held their nerve to come away with a 4 shot win to move into the Preliminary Final against Marion at Marion Club next Saturday 19th March. We wish them well in their endeavours for a Grand Final place.
