The weather bureau forecast for the day warned of severe weather conditions, a cold front coming in with a high chance of rain and damaging winds. It also advised sun protection was not required unless outside for extended periods (I don’t think there was any chance of that). Needless to say, players were eager to get back into the Clubrooms to thaw out and enjoy a drink or two. Despite the chilly conditions 84 players attended the day’s event with both games alternating between C and D rinks under cover of the ‘Thunder Dome’. ‘Fagin’ almost starved as contributions to Guide Dogs SA/NT were unusually small.

The ‘lucky’ number for this week’s jackpot prize of $330 was 4, which was shared between Stuart Jolly, Andy Simmons, Chris Venning and Rob Jackway, Nola Watson, Mick Jones. Thanks to Rob Jackway for coming in early to help with preparations for the day’s event, Wayne Mack for selling the raffle tickets and Les Scott for his services to the club. Wayne Mack also sponsors prizes for resting touchers. It’s encouraging to see the number of players turning up on Tuesdays and Fridays, both members and visitors, thank you for your patronage as it makes our efforts and those of the club worthwhile.
Keep them rolling,
Graham Fishlock and Ian McPhillips
