Despite the forecast temperature 10 teams turned out for an interesting afternoon’s competition. At first it appeared the forecasters had got it wrong as the sun did come out to play. However, a severe squall arrived as all rinks were reaching the “up and back” stage of their first games. It was decided to take an early break and sure enough all was clear within half an hour and the first and second games were completed without further interruptions.
First game win went to Pat McGuinness and Jose Gil with 28 +8 shots up, after an excellent drive by Pat resulted in an 8 shot turn – around win on their 10th end. Second game winners with an outstanding 29 +17 shots up were Peter Holt and Paul Heath. Overall two game winners were Gavin Duncliffe and John Nelson who lost just 5 ends total in both games to record a score of 56 points +18 shots up. Even though there had been some great results in the second game no team came near the winning number of +22 so once again there will be an increased Jackpot next week in what will be the last Saturday social bowls competition, with Pennant practice commencing the following Saturday.
